Identity Design

With the excitement that was around the introduction of a new executive chef, the team at Strand Bistro took the opportunity to request a redesign of their logo. The Bistro is located inside the Marriott Vacation Club Pulse New York City in the Garment District and serves new American cuisine with contemporary influences. The work displayed was not the chosen concept but one of the options presented to the client.
Audience
Blend of Marriott Vacation Club owners as well as local guests.
Considerations
Find inspirations from the local area — (Garment District and NYC).
Hip and Metropolitan.
The Garment district in NYC has a very rich history and a consideration from the client was to incorporate that into the design. The logo itself is meant to look as if it is stitched while keeping it contemporary and hip. I also designed a monogram with the letters S&B to be used when the full logo is not necessary. Below are two proposed menu designs. To play off the garment theme, the patterns are meant to be printed on fabric and they are complemented with a monogrammed leather strap.
I also created an iteration of the logo to resemble a clothing tag. I incorporated the leather texture to complement the menu and to reiterate the connection to the Garment District.
I wanted to create a visual element that would relate to the resort’s location and put the audience in a New York state of mind. Inspired by the boldness of the lit signs in Times Square, I created multiple slides and animated them with the vision of being used at the entrance of the bistro on a giant screen.
